Honoring a Life, Building Futures
This mission serves as a bridge between Joe's legacy of service and the bright futures of those following in his footsteps. We honor his memory by providing essential tuition assistance to students and fellow servicemembers, ensuring that his spirit and dedication to service continues to empower the next generation.

About Joe
Joe had an incredible way of leaving a lasting mark on the hearts of everyone who knew him. Blessed with an infectious laugh, an unwavering loyalty (which he inherited from his father), and a vibrant love for sports, he had a gift for turning ordinary moments into cherished memories. His strength of character and unshakeable spirit left a powerful blueprint for what it means to lead with heart and live with purpose.
He was a truly special soul who brought people together, making friends easily across every high school circle. His happiest moments were anchored in family, especially on the beaches of Cape Cod, where he’d spend hours building sandcastles with his then-baby brother Paulie or letting himself be buried in the sand.
We choose to honor Joe every day by remembering him in the best ways possible—carrying his memory forward through love, laughter, and the stories we will never stop telling.
Joe joined the United States Marine Corps after graduating from Windsor Locks High School in 2003. After graduating bootcamp at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island Joe was stationed at Futenma Air Base with MALS-36, where he served as an Aviation Supply Specialist. Joe passed away in April of 2005, while stationed in Japan.
We founded the PFC Joseph C. Filip Memorial Scholarship, and memorial golf tournament, in 2005, months after Joe passed away. For 20 years we provided the scholarship to graduating seniors from Windsor Locks High School. In 2026, we decided to begin providing the scholarship to Marines serving at Fox Company, 2nd BN, 25th Marine Regiment in Connecticut.
